Baustelle des Neubaus einer neuen Zeitungsdruckerei für das Mittelbayerische Druckzentrum

General management and construction planning of a new newspaper printing facility.

Mittelbayerischer Verlag was founded in 1945 and is among the most important regional daily newspaper publishers in Bavaria today. The increasing demands of product quality, the economic targets and the increased skills shortage mean that a new production site is required. As general management contractor, IE Graphic planned and implemented the construction of the new modern printing and logistics centre with an affiliated administration building. Thanks to the thought-out process, operation and logistics planning, the previous printing capacity of the publisher was almost doubled.

The challenge.

From the very beginning, IE Graphic was confronted with a tight schedule defined by the funding concept of Mittelbayerischer Verlag. Because, as well as planning the operational processes and selecting the production technology, the complete logistics area also had to be moved to the new site. In addition, there were additional requests during the construction phase to which our experts had to react flexibly. A newly created ground survey also required extensive ground improvement measures. Envisaged KfW subsidies for a photovoltaic system were also an accompanying part of the overall concept.

The success factors.

Based on the IE methods, a plan was created with preferred options. Because this was the only way to develop as sustainable and ecologically responsible an industrial construction solution as possible. Above all, the extensive sector expertise of IE Graphic, short decision paths and intensive collaboration came into effect for the efficient and timely implementation. The building structure planned in coordination with the production and technical requirements also contributed here. Just one short year after the start of construction, the first printed products were produced. In this way, a complex newspaper production emerged in the shortest time, which fulfils the highest demands when it comes to innovation, quality and economy.
